A ‘Swayamvar’ to Remember!
If you thought that reality shows couldn’t get more fake, Rakhi ka Swayamvar proved it and be shocked to see Rakhi transform from a bold item girl to a coy and demure bride. An awfully polished and painted Rakhi was throughout under the threat of cracking her makeup and everytime she tried to smile, she ended up looking constipated. So, while her dulhas were busy bending iron bars, arguing among themselves and practicing to chant ‘I Love You’ hundred times a minute, the ever-emotional Rakhi could be seen crying while out on date, crying while bleaching her face, crying while dancing and crying dare the TRPs dropped low!
I must tell you, it felt like tearing my hair apar to see Rakhi repeatedly call herself an actor (sure) and explaining that being an item girl is a profession of its own (that is, if you call all that pays, a profession). She insisted that Indian clothes were her favourite, while she was wearing saree for the first time. She jumped up and down shouting that she was nervous to go out on a date as she had never been on one. All this despite having two public relationships, both starting with a kiss and ending with a slap. Other kisses and slaps were outside of relationships.
This time she managed to hoist her “bhartiya naari” flag a notch higher by wrapping up in sarees and lowering her eyes. She claimed to be traditional and conservative one moment and accepted dancing in bachelors’ party the next moment. All this followed by a long description of her tragic childhood and ever painful relationships and that she wants to move on now. Move on girl, and first starters, stop talking about it!
Expecting the unexpected from Rakhi we feared that she might not choose any ‘dulha’ this time and we would be watching a Rakhi ka Swayamvar Dvitiya. However, now as she walked into the sunset with her beau who knows she might be back with a Rakhi ka Honeymoon (or a divorce!) very soon. Since the TRPs of the show were soaring high, even at this moment the producers must be laughing their way to the bank, saying what Rakhi says the best, “Thank You saw much”!
