NSS Student Leaders Orientation Programme

The NSS (National Service Scheme) unit of Ram Lal Anand College and University of Delhi organised an Orientation Course for Student Leaders of NSS from 15 Delhi University, South Campus colleges from September 25-26.
Over five to six volunteers from each college were participating in the Leaders Orientation Programme who were present along with their college NSS programme officers and teachers.
The NSS Programme Oficer, Dr. Usha Nigam opened the event with a welcome of the Chief Guest, Prof. Dinesh Singh (Director, UDSC) by Dr. Vijay K. Sharma, Principal,
The Director shared his words with NSS volunteers inspired by Gandhiji’s principles of service to the mankind and the message of ‘dharma’. He said: “Gandhiji was the greatest leader of all time. Service was the foundation of his principles. Let us go back to his teachings. Let us keep ourselves intact with this ‘dharma’ of service.
Mr. Singh also said: “There are no titles or positions required to do service to the nation.”
The event was followed by a Lecture by Dr. Ramesh Dutt Sharma (Former Scientist- Pusa Institute) on Environment, E-waste and Plastic Bags. A detailed presentation on Anti- Tobacco Root-journey to death was presented by Dr. A.K Vashisht (CMO, World Lung Foundation) about the ill effects of active and passive smoking.
Dr. Girish Kumar Tuteja (Asst. Programme Advisor, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports) enlightened the students on New Opportunities for NSS Volunteers.
On Saturday, September 26, the second day of the Leaders Orientation Session, the students witnessed a presentation by Pravah, an NGO about their activities which the NSS Volunteers could take up with them. CRY, another NGO working for Child Rights illustrated their activities and programmes which the NSS volunteers could join.
The event came to an end with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Usha Nigam and distribution of certificates to the students from other colleges who attended the session.
