MUSIC REVIEW OF THE MONTH
It is dry and it’s wet, it is hot and its cold….the month of September brings ‘celebration’ to all the Madgesty’s fans out there. This is the perfect time when Madonna sends out an invitation to all the people, to party and celebrate.
The Queen of Pop’s third greatest hits compilation, Celebration hits the stores September 28th with two brand new singles with ‘Celebration’ which was released digitally on 31st of July. The song which has been touted as another dance anthem from the pop icon is written and produced by Madonna and Paul Oakenfold for the greatest hits album. Warner Bros. Records announced “Celebration” as the lead single from the album.
"Celebration" has been described as a sleek dance-oriented track with pumping; house style beats in the background. According to the Los Angeles Times the song has a highly energetic synth-pop groove while referencing 80s Madonna songs. The song is a call to everyone as Madonna sings: “I think you wanna come over .Yeah I heard it through the grapevine. Are you drunk? Are you sober? (Think about it) Doesn’t matter and if it makes you feel good then I say do it, I don’t know what you’re waiting for”
The bridge is in a speak-sing format, where Madonna speaks “Haven’t I seen you somewhere before? You look familiar. You wanna dance? Yeah. I guess I just don’t recognize you with your clothes on. What are you waiting for?” The dance track has been written in the form of an invitation where Madonna calls everyone to celebrate the dance of life.
The song’s video which has been released on iTunes has the greatest female artist of all time, the ever-fabulous Madge sporting a sleek new bob in a sparkly dress and her iconic thigh-high boots. In the video, Madonna shows her ever slender body in grooving solo dance moves with her talented dancers performing solo on the floor. The video has been directed by Jonas Akerlund, the director of her famous video for the hit, Ray of Light. The singer’s latest boyfriend cum model Jesus Luz plays a DJ in the video with the seductress Madonna giving him (hmm..well) the kiss of love!
The Queen who is rumoured to have been suffering from exhaustion due to her regular work-out regime and grand tour performances of the Sticky and Sweet Tour at venues she had never landed before refused to end the show even after a collapse of sorts while performing in Sofia, the Bulgarian Capital just because she has never ever disappointed her fans and alas has never been afraid of taking on challenging times too. Her fans are not in for a disappointment this time around too…with ‘Celebration’ already doing well on the radio stations.
So, let’s keep the party open for now coz “it’s a celebration!”
