Of moos and bows...

Hey, it’s time to take out your nursery books and revise animal sounds while I take you on a guided tour to my locality to illustrate the same. And no, I don’t live in a national park!

Well, if you come to my area, I’ll be so happy to show you the cows that roam around on the streets being self employed traffic regulators. You will see them standing in the middle of the road, in place of the divider (where there is none) and on top of it (where there is!). Sometimes, people say even kicks and blows aren’t enough to drive them away from their places. Apart from that, the generous creature is always willing to lend a hand (a mouth, rather) in garbage clearance. You will find them near all garbage heaps, doing their bit by swallowing as much as they can lay their tongues on! It gets sooooo sad in the evening for an animal lover like myself because they are all taken away by those doodhwaala bhaiyas (with handlebar moustaches) to get milked!

Not just them, I must tell you our colony dogs and pups are oh, so kind to all the residents. More so, to the guests! They usher all visitors from the colony gate to whichever house they are looking for with a beautiful smile, without fail. But they are such naughty little living things I tell you, all of them are close at the heels throughout, ready to give a love bite any moment! You must remember they are after all man’s best friends, so don’t think twice before accepting their token of love, from rabies to lentospirosis as remembrance. Even in the night, they are considerate enough not to occupy any space on the already narrow streets. Often, we wake up to see the most handsome of them all sleeping on top of our car!

Now, wouldn’t you agree that living amidst such conditions would make an animal lover out of anybody? I wonder what a certain Ms. Gandhi would have to say on this…
