Back by popular demand…well, at least that’s how Eminem has to put it in his latest album Relapse. After a hiatus of almost three years, the multi-platinum rapper is back with his 6th studio album.

As it has always been, there are many shades of his personal life in this album too. The intro gives us a hint where had he been all these years. Then comes the track 3 a.m., where a guy walks into a room at 3am in the morning to find bodies lying all over. I don’t remember how they got there but I guess I must have killed ‘em, killed ‘em., depicting him as amnesiac. The song goes about his madness of kissing naked mannequins and his lifestyle Sitting nude in my living room, it’s almost noon I wonder what’s on the tube maybe they’ll show some b**bs. It’s a wicked start to the album though it could easily be offensive to some.

Next he comes up with another song on his mom. Yes, he mentions it at the start that we’re probably tired of hearing ‘bout his mom but this is a story how he got hooked to valium. Valium was in everything, food that I ate, the water that I drank, f**kin peas on my plate his lyrics such as now tell me, what kinda mother would wanna see her son grow up to be an under-a-f**king-chiever again hit her mother hard.

A completely inane song is next on the track list, aptly titled Insane. Eminem’s gone all the way to sayin’ that his father used to feel him, to diss him. It’s another lyrical assault to his father. Next we have, Bagpipes from Baghdad, there’s nothing about the war-torn capital city of Iraq, in the song. But yeah, the music does give a middle-eastern feel to it.

In Hello, the sinister alter-ego of Eminem, Slim Shady pops out. He takes pleasure introducing himself as Shady. In Medicine Ball, again depicts his homophobic thoughts. Welcome to Slim Shady Mecca Rebecca it’s the village in New York, right next to the Tribeca that’s my sector, homosexual dissector/. He, again, comes up with some nasty lyrics against some celebrities, the chick’s so old she looks like she out-lived a life sentence is what he’s said about Madonna. Then he says, I’ll pee on Rihanna, see man I do what I wanna.

The two master-pieces of the album are We Made You and Beautiful.

We Made You, being the first single to be released after the hiatus is pitched as a comeback song by Eminem, can he come back, as nasty as he can/ Yes he can-can don’t ask me this again.

In Beautiful, the rapper talks about his depressed state of mind. Puzzled with his downfall and he wonders if he could ever take up the microphone and spit his verses as wickedly as he used to. But he’s still positive that come what may you must always remain positive. Don’t let anyone take you down. The rapper talks about changing shoes with each other, and what they go through from each other’s eyes. Moral of the story – stay true to yourself, don’t let ‘em say you ain’t beautiful.

While, many critics believe Eminem just knows to spit on the microphone with nasty lyrics. It's coz of exactly this kinda work, he rose to the pinnacle of his career, it’s his USP. So, for me, he’s done what he’s best at! Thumbs up, from me!
